The Cheese Stands Alone

It’s official. I’m calling it. At 9 months and 4 days Chandler can stand all on his own. He does it all the time now and I can’t tell you how proud we are. It was weird feeling this morning when I set him down, and instead of getting that sensation of jelly legs that collapse below him, his feet planted firmly on the ground and he remained standing. And then, I’m not sure if I heard him right but I’m pretty sure he said, “I’ve got it from here, Dad.” It was probably something more along the lines of, “blah mum ghsfglhv!” Whatever he said, it was cocky.

I’m really excited for him. The ability to stand is going to open up a whole new avenue of possibilities for my little man. Think of all the things he can do with his newly acquired skill. He can start performing stand up comedy (maybe I should set a good example for him), he can stand up for his rights (less broccoli, more fudgsicles!), and he can stand on street corners (not that we condone that).

Of course I wouldn’t be a good father if I didn’t say I wasn’t satisfied. He can stand. Super. Now it’s time to walk. Back to the drawing board.
