My son the developer

It’s so amazing to watch as Chandler develops on a daily basis. Chandler has finally gotten to the stage where he likes eating, but he is still really bad at it. He puts a morsel in his mouth and it pops back out like a golf ball popping out of one of those putting practice gizmos. His favorite little snack is these little mother approved “cheesy poof” things. We put it on the table, he picks it up, he fumbles around with it, and then he puts it into his mouth. And then it pops out.

Until now. My son has developed a new technology which he has named “The Cheesy Poof Stopper.” Okay, “technology” might not be the right word. But it is definitely an innovation. Because now, when he puts a cheesy poof in his mouth, he holds his hand up to his mouth to block it from popping out. Problem solved!

I like my son’s approach to this. Did he get hung up on the fact that the real problem lies inside his mouth and that a more permanent fix would be to control his tongue so the cheesy poofs stay in? No! All in good time. And until he has perfected the technology that will allow him to keep food in his mouth without the use of his hands, he has a solution that meets his current needs.

Watching my son progress really is the most fun thing about being a dad. Also, I like throwing stuffed animals at him.
