And the winner is…

Last week I announced a photoshop/caption contest, giving everyone creative license to mess with my son. Using this picture I asked you guys to come up with the funniest picture and/or caption you could think of.

As an example I submitted this masterpiece.

CAPTION: Dad’s plan to pay for my college with Mt. Dew didn’t work and now I’m working my way through law school!

I thought that was pretty good, but you guys sent me really great submissions. The rules of the contest were that you could submit a photoshopped image, or just a caption, and there would be a winner for both categories. If you submitted both a photo and a caption you will be eligible for both categories, but of course you can only win once (the prize is the same for each category).

Let’s check them out!

#1. The first submission was sent by Lori. I like this one because it depicts my son as a classic icon of comedy, Groucho Marx. Someone is playing to my weakness. Smart move, Lori.

#2. The force is strong with submission number two. Sarah turned my son into a jedi. Pretty awesome!

It should also be noted that it looks like Sarah used www.FotoTrix.com to create her photoshopped image. For those of you who say you don’t know how to do that sort of thing, that site will do it for you!

#3. This third submission by Ranae was pretty darn creative, but might lose points for slandering Mt. Dew.

CAPTION: Kids don’t let your parents drink Moutain Dew. I did. Now I’m here.

I don’t agree with the message, Ranae, but I like your style.

#4. Submission number four is from Tara. She submitted this caption to go along with the original picture.

CAPTION: Dammit!  I knew I shouldn’t have drank last night!  Every time I start drinking wine coolers I wake up with a damn hangover!

Tara, I picture my son being more of a Wine-in-a-box kind of guy.

#5. Submission number five is from my favorite mother-in-law. She’s really awesome. I can’t say enough about her.

But I am a little worried about her submission because it looks like Chandler is ripping through this Giraffe’s neck. Gruesome.

#6. Okay, our final submission was sent in by Marayna. You can tell she’s a true IF fan because she incorporated a recent post into her caption.

CAPTION: Maybe i should have listened when dad said “don’t wander off, because i said so”

And her picture is an accurate depiction of the rate at which Chandler is growing. He will soon be as big as mountains.

It was a lot of fun to see these crazy images you guys made. You all have a lot of talent and great senses humor. But in any contest there has to be winners and losers. First I want to thank everyone who played along. It was fun to get more submissions than last time. Hopefully even more people get in on the fun of messing with my son as I continue to do this each month.

In the category of best photoshopped image the winner is #3 by Ranae. Even though she tried to drag Mt. Dew through the mud I thought her use of the pole in Chandler’s hands was the most creative. And let’s be honest, I can’t resist a photo that has Mt. Dew in it.

In the category of best caption the winner is #6 by Marayna. Her caption was funny and it referenced a previous post and let’s face it…I’m pretty narcissistic.

Both of you have won a copy of Ian James Corlett’s book E is for Ethics. You can read my review of this great book HERE. Send me an email at improvisingfatherhood(AT)gmail.com to claim your prize.
