The End of Chanuary

Chanuary is almost over and I am sad to say there will be no Chebruary. In just a few short days I will have to untie my drawstring and turn in my sweatpants for a pair of blue jeans and a belt. I’ll have to shave (not really noticeable) and do whatever it is I do that passes for “styling” my hair. I have to go back to work.

I can’t say I’m all that excited about this. Some dads spend a month cooped up at home and then can’t wait to be sprung free. Not me. I like spending my days at home with an open jar of peanut butter next to me on my desk, tapping away at my keyboard while taking intermittent breaks to play with Chandler (aka let him drool on me while I make goofy noises).

I’m going to miss all the little moments Chandler and I have had together. Wrestling on the carpet and making him scream with glee. Looking into his eyes as I feed him. Sticking him in a bouncy chair and ignoring his frustrated cries as I type out my latest article.

I will also miss all this time I have had to write. I will do my best to keep these posts coming on a daily basis. But there’s a good chance they will slow down just a bit. But don’t worry, I will stay consistent and continue to write about Chandler no matter how much I have to ignore him.

One thing I wish I had done during Chanuary is take a picture of Chandler and I together each day. I just thought of that today. That would have been a neat way to keep track of this event. So I’ve decided that Chanuary can carry on in spirit. I will take a picture of Chandler and I every day and post it. Sometimes I might comment on it. Sometimes not. Here is the first of many.
