Chandler likes to move it, move it.

This installment of “Father Knows Best?” is brought to us by an anonymous question asker who posed this query.

What is Chandler’s least favorite thing?

I have to be honest, Chandler is a bit of an enigma. He can be a tough nut to crack some times. He always seems to have a secret agenda. I’ll set him on my lap and immediately he starts squirming to get somewhere. Where? Who knows? I’m not sure he even knows. But he is constantly trying to go somewhere and do something. It’s precious to watch his face. He always has this look of determination like what he is doing is of the utmost importance.

So what is Chandler’s least favorite thing? Being still. If you set him down on his back he will immediately turn over and get into the crawling position. From there he will rock back and forth and stretch out as far as he can and scream in frustration at the fact that he can’t quite do what he’s trying to do.

So while Chandler’s least favorite thing is sitting still, that is my most favorite thing about Chandler. He’s a fighter. He never settles for less than his best and he’s always trying to improve. Some people worry for Ashley and I and tell us what a handful he is going to be. I hate that attitude. I’ll post about this later.

The thing I look forward to the most is watching as Chandler grows and continues to gain new skills and abilities. He will never sit still. He will never be the kid who gets picked last. Everyone will know that you want Chandler on your team. Because he’s never going to give up.

Sometimes when Chandler has been trying to crawl and he’s crying so hard because he can’t do it that I decide it’s time to give him a break, he’ll keep crying after I pick him up. I realize it’s because he wasn’t upset about being on his stomach, he was upset that he couldn’t crawl. And now that I’ve picked him up he’s even more upset that I stopped him. It’s almost as if he’s yelling at me. “Why did you pick me up!? I was going to get it! I almost had it! Put me back down there!”

This is a quality that is not easily taught. But when fostered correctly this is a quality that makes champions.
