I made Chandler laugh!
It finally happened. I had heard about it. Even seen video footage of it. But I didn’t think it was real. Until now. I made Chandler laugh. I didn’t just make him laugh, I had him cracking up. I had him going for a good five minutes.
Now I’ll admit this wasn’t some of my best material, but Chandler’s not really into the high brow humor. My Tiger Woods jokes just aren’t cutting it for him. So instead I relied on a little trick called “rubbing my face in his belly.” And boy does he love it. And this wasn’t a fluke either. A few hours later when it was time to put him to sleep, I tricked him into not crying about being put to bed by making him laugh first. He eventually figured out what was going on, and maybe, just maybe he thought I had betrayed his trust, but I’m sure he’ll forgive me in the morning when I wake him up by making him laugh again.
Well, I officially have a new “interest” to put in the info section of my facebook profile. “Making my son laugh.” But I think it is safe to say, this won’t be a mere interest. This will be an obsession.
I look forward to seeing how Chandler’s sense of humor will evolve. Right now he’s laughing at a face being rubbed in his tummy. Maybe next month he’ll start laughing at something visual. And maybe some day, just maybe, he’ll laugh at my jokes about him. Even better, maybe he’ll start making jokes about me.
