Labor of Love

There is something infinitely difficult about watching your most loved one go through intense pain for hours on end and to know that not only is there nothing you can do to help, but this is what she is supposed to be going through in order to accomplish our goal. It just doesn’t seem fair. I kept wanting to tag in and take the pain for her. But I couldn’t. And now that it is all over, and she has endured all that pain while I helplessly stood by and watched (aka being “supportive”), I get as much ownership of the child as she does. 
My wife, Ashley, has been an inspiration throughout this entire ordeal. I am so proud of her. This certainly has not been easy. And no matter how much she had mentally prepared herself for what she was going to be going through, you can never be fully prepared for the event of giving birth. 
I love her so much. Most of this blog will be my accounts of my experiences as a father and so will usually focus on interactions between my son and I. But being a father is as much about being a husband as it is anything else. So while I might not always write about it, rest assured I am impressed, inspired and in-love with my wife more and more every day. And while I’m writing all these funny jokes and stories about being a parent, Ashley is doing all the hard work.
