Competitive Eater
I’m pretty excited to say Chandler no longer has the eating habits of a high school cheerleader. He’s stopped rejecting food and has become much more excited about including edible objects on the list of things he’ll put in his mouth. You see, in the past (what, like 8 days ago?) if you gave him something he was supposed to chew on, he’d fend it off like Jackie Chan...

Til Death Dew us Part?
This week I received a very nice email from an IF fan named Amanda. She started out by saying some very nice things about my blog which always makes my day. She mentioned that her husband occasionally reads IF over her shoulder on account of all the Mt Dew and ninja baby references.
But then she took it one step further by looking out for my health. She said:
“I came across this website...

Puppy Love
Chandler has a new best friend. His new friend is named Sawyer. No, not the Sawyer who was lost on an island for 6 years (actually I don’t think that’s how much time passed…it was all so confusing!). The only thing this Sawyer has in common with the Sawyer from LOST is she never wears a shirt either. But this Sawyer is a dog. No, I’m not making a rude statement about her...

My son the developer
It’s so amazing to watch as Chandler develops on a daily basis. Chandler has finally gotten to the stage where he likes eating, but he is still really bad at it. He puts a morsel in his mouth and it pops back out like a golf ball popping out of one of those putting practice gizmos. His favorite little snack is these little mother approved “cheesy poof” things. We put it on the...

It's time to get Chandler a helmet
I can’t believe it has taken me this long to come to this conclusion. Chandler does so many potentially head damaging things you’d think I would have made the investment earlier.
What has prompted this newfound desire to protect my little dude’s dome?
Nunchucks.
Yeah, I said it. I got me some nunchucks!
Look out crime! Justice has a new set of nunchucks! And a baby!

Chandler Facts
For a while now there’s been this Internet craze called “Chuck Norris Facts.” It’s losing some of it’s momentum now, but they are still funny. Chuck Norris Facts are one liner jokes about Chuck Norris that state how awesome he is. Here’s an example, “Chuck Norris doesn’t wear a watch. HE decides what time it is.” Then people started doing the same...

Somebody is playing favorites
Recently it has become abundantly clear that Chandler is a momma’s boy.
During the beginning stages of my parenting career, I prided myself on maintaining a strong connection with my son. People told me that in the first few months the baby will have a much stronger connection with the mother because she is his primary source of food, and she doesn’t have an annoying voice like I do....

Improvising Mother's Day
Sunday was Mother’s Day. Did you know that? I certainly DID. And I was TOTALLY prepared for this. I mean after all, I’m told it is the second biggest holiday of the year. That just doesn’t sound right to me. I’m pretty sure Groundhog’s Day is the second biggest holiday of the year. I mean…does Bill Murray star in a movie about Mother’s Day? I don’t...

The perfect gift for a father
There’s an old saying (and an old TV show) that says, “Father knows best.” Well I’ve really been putting that theory to the test, and possibly proving it wrong. Here we go again! It’s time for some more Father Knows Best? Today’s question is from Kristin. She asks:
Friends of mine recently announced they were pregnant again. What is a good gift for the...

Best way to carry a lot of quarters
Every once in a while I check my Google Analytics to see how I’m doing. By “every once in a while” I mean every 10 minutes. I get pretty excited when I see that someone has visited my site because that shows me that I’m not wasting my time. And I’m always interested to know how people have found Improvising Fatherhood.
I have been getting the word out there about...

Put Improvising Fatherhood on your iPhone home...
The other day I mentioned that one of my fans showed me that Improvising Fatherhood is on the home screen of her iPhone. Another fan commented and asked how to do it. She then left another comment saying she had figured it out. Nice work! But just in case there are any other fans out there who want know how to do this, here is a quick tutorial.
1. Go to www.improvisingfatherhood.com on your...

I think my son is a vampire!
(Alternate title for this post: My son really bites)
It’s time for me to reach back into the old mail bag and answer another question for Father Knows Best? I was recently anonymously asked the following question:
Does he have any teeth yet? Was he super crabby while they were coming in and what tricks have you tried to sooth him?
Thank you for your question. Yes, Chandler has two...
