The art of the stall tactic
There are very few skills that Chandler has completely mastered so far. He’s a good walker, but certainly not a master of it. He’s a good eater, but has his fair share of mishaps. But one skill Chandler has down cold, is the subtle art of the stall tactic.
Before I go on, let me just say that bed time has easily become our most favorite time of the day. I don’t dispense a lot...

My son the pimp
A nightly ritual for Ashley and I is to beg Chandler for kisses. Right before putting him to bed we’ll each take turns asking him if we can have a kiss. This is actually something I didn’t think I’d be interested in. I don’t kiss dudes. And I really don’t kiss little dudes. But there’s something about getting a smack on the lips from your toddler that is just...
Mum's the Word
So as you know, Chandler has begun saying, “Mom.” I’m still relegated to “Eeeee!” At first I thought Mommy was the special one because Chandler was actually saying her name right. But now, Chandler uses “Mom” for everyone but me. If he wants Grandma to watch him as he rides his new toy horse, he yells, “Mom!” If he wants Grandpa to let him play...

Fishing for Floaters on Christmas
Christmas was winding to a close, all the presents were opened and the wrapping was stuffed away. Little did we know Chandler had one last gift for us. Wrapped neatly in a package of bubbles, Ashley and I were completely unaware of the situation that was brewing. Chandler had a twinkle in his eye and a tinkle in his tub.
Next thing I know it’s “Everybody out of the pool!” and...
Anonymous asked: Not really a question, but I went through about 50 pages of your blog last week. This week we're up visiting family and I'm visiting my 15 month old cousin for the first time in a long while and he reminds me so much of Chandler.
Passing the buck
Chandler: (poops…loudly)
Me: Go to Mommy!

Pop Mom Duck Ball
These are the words. These are the words Chandler can say now. That’s right folks, we’ve got a talker over here. Okay, “talker” might be a bit of an overstatement. I mean, we’re not having stimulating conversations, but anything involving the words Pop, Mom, Duck, and Ball and we’re good to go.
It began with Pop, which Chandler started saying because of this...
Chandler smashed his first ant today. He’s claiming self defense.
HELP KICKSTART THIS AWESOME SHORT FILM, BLACKBIRD →
Just a quick plug for my friend Joe Aimonetti who is a brilliant filmmaker and is raising funds to get his short film, Blackbird, made. Click the link above (the title), watch the trailer, and then if you are so inclined give a buck. If you think the movie looks awesome, but can’t donate at this time, you can still help by spreading the word. WORD.

Love Story
In my last post I mentioned that Chandler has a bit of a crush on Taylor Swift. I think “bit of a crush” is an understatement. If Chandler’s love for Taylor Swift was a vehicle, it’d be a creepy stalker van.
It all started with Comcast’s “Kidz Only!” music station. We started tuning in to this station as a way to give Chandler some tunes to groove to....

Failure to Launch
Okay, I have another problem I need to discuss. Every morning I am leaving the house later than the previous morning. I am finding it increasingly difficult to pry myself away from my son. In the early days it was quite easy to head out to work. Chandler would be crying, sleeping, or nursing, all of which are activities I don’t really need to participate in.
But now Chandler is a lot more...

One nap to rule them all
Just recently Chandler very quietly made the transition from two naps a day to just one. He now wakes up around 7am (knock on wood) and stays up until around 11am. Then after 2-3 hours of napping, he is back on the war path until around 8pm.
This new sleep routine certainly has its perks. If Ashley has errands to run during the day and has to take Chandler with her, she doesn’t have to fit...
Chandler is now down to just one nap a day, and I’m going back to two naps...

2010: A Development Year
The year 2010 is almost over. This was Chandler’s first full calendar year and the end of the year will mark the end of his 16th month as a human. It’s interesting to think that Chandler doesn’t have the vocabulary or even the mental bandwidth to comprehend the concept of a new year. He’s completely oblivious. He kind of reminds me of myself before I was married.
